Do You Need a Place to Learn About Yourself as a Writer?
A little about me and my plans for The Writer's Reflection.
Hi.
I’ve been writing online for over 3 years, but I’ve never really shared much of what I’ve learned or connected with many other online writers.
I started writing on Medium in July 2021 and then found my home on Substack in October 2021. Centered on Christ was birthed that month, and since then, it’s had over 1 million views and nearly 3,500 subscribers. I’m so thankful for all the readers who think what I’m doing is important for their lives.
Starting and growing a Substack has been so fulfilling, but also, it’s incredibly time-consuming. I love it, but I’ve missed being able to connect with other online writers, learning from them, and sharing my experiences as well.
Recently, I’ve stopped publishing as much (I was publishing something every single day), so now I have time to start and keep up with a Substack focused on building relationships with other online writers (hey, that’s you!) and sharing what we’ve learned.
What is The Writer’s Reflection?
When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
Well, you see yourself.
You see the good and you see areas that need improvement.
For example, in my picture at the top of this article - I need a haircut. My beard especially needs a trim. You can’t see it in the picture, but I’ve also been having problems with dry skin around my eyes. It becomes painful at times, and I should figure out some way to deal with it.
What about if you looked in the mirror at your “writer’s reflection?”
What would be the things you were good at? What are the things you’re struggling with? What are the things you’ve had to learn the hard way?
My plan for The Writer’s Reflection is for it to be an honest look at the things we struggle with as online writers. Some things will be practical - like how to do that - some things will take a more introspective approach - why do we struggle with this?
The very first article - which will post tomorrow at 9:00 AM - is about one of my biggest struggles as an online writer.
You’ve probably struggled with it too.
